Drew Harlow has been able to see the dead for as long as she can remember; from faint whispers in her ear as each night passes to ghostly apparitions dancing just outside the borders of her eyesight, they are constantly lingering nearby. Despite this, she has always managed to keep a low profile, preserve her sense of normalcy, and find comfort in the notion that there is a distinct boundary dividing her world from theirs—the world of the living and the realm of the dead.
Until now.
Drew’s world is flipped upside down after her lover Shane is involved in a horrible accident, and each day brings more questions than it does answers. Drew starts digging in a desperate attempt to learn the truth about what actually transpired that evening, but she soon learns more truths than she had anticipated—truths that may put her own life in danger.
There is a lot to love about this tale. The story’s sombre mood, which is starkly displayed externally as rain, snow, and fog batter against a vibrant seaside scene, permeates every part of Drew’s emotional struggle with sadness and heartache and serves as a prelude to the subsequent magnificent gothic tale. As each chapter builds on the previous, Wandering Souls is a story that gathers pace rather than one that flips and turns. But don’t be fooled, dear reader; the secret will be revealed at the very end!
A charming throwback to the teen thrillers of the 1990s and early 2000s that were popular on both home television and the big screen, Wandering Souls is a compelling WhoDunIt. This book is for you if you enjoy old-school thrillers like I Know What You Did Last Summer or TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This page-turner will keep you guessing thanks to its endearing mix of friends, adversaries, and occasionally benevolent ghosts.
About The Book
In the coastal town of Atlas Cliffs, seventeen-year-old Drew Harlow has a secret. She can see the dead. She’s always seen them, and they’ve always left her alone.
Until now.
Drew’s final year of high school should have been fun. It should have been carefree. It would have, if not for the accident that took the life of her boyfriend, Shane. Now, it’s all she can do to keep her head above water. But Drew can’t shake the feeling that something was missed.
Move forward. Let go. There’s no way Shane could’ve survived. That’s what her best friend Piper keeps telling her. Except, if Drew can see the dead, why can’t she see Shane?
Drew embarks on a mission to uncover the secrets of Neptune Point, the scene of Shane’s accident. As she digs into the mystery, she exposes unexpected darkness that has been buried for too long. But someone doesn’t want the truth to come out, and they will protect it at all costs. Even if it means silencing Drew.
She cannot turn back now.
Choosing to ignore what is in front of her is no longer an option.
