There are a lot of YA fantasy books to pick from, but if you want to read something that is immersive, has superb world-building, and characters that are so meticulously detailed that you need a glossary to keep track of everything, then you have to pick up The Last Lumenian.
It would be a sad misrepresentation to suggest that I enjoyed reading this. The author skillfully woven her story into a distinctive, vibrant setting, which was finely depicted. I was completely engulfed in each moment as I read it. Who requires VR? Even though there were a lot of characters to get to know and histories to discover, the plot never felt sluggish. The pace was just right for capturing your interest and keeping you turning pages.
Lilla is the rebellious 19-year-old daughter of Ma’ha Niall, also known as King Niall, the ruler of Uhna. When she was five years old, her Lumenian mother Eilish passed away, and her father weds a considerably younger lady. Her battle and the story then begin. She feels rejected as she grows older. Only her servant best friend Glenna and a gorgeous pilot and fellow rebel named Arrov can make Lilla feel better. She was already someone I loved for her calm common sense and tenacity.
She earns my sympathies and desire for her to succeed as she starts to forge her own path. Here, we start to realise that she is more complex than we initially thought. She would stand on her own two feet. And this book is about her discovery of the highest level of freedom. My feelings for her are only heightened by the knowledge that she will complete her destiny by overcoming the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction, becoming the power of her people and a symbol revered by all.
The world that the refugees cherish while they struggle to live and be “Free” is sincere. The characters were incredibly exceptional and iconic—in a good or terrible way—and the plot was gripping (Xor). And the feelings? I don’t believe I’ve ever criticised anybody for giving me the feelings you did. This book was outstanding from beginning to end. I love S.G.’s use of language and the original ways she describes scenes and feelings in her writing.
It can be challenging to connect with readers on the correct emotional level, yet the author succeeded in doing so. She is an exceptional author in the fantasy and high fantasy genres thanks to her abilities to steer the story and to develop unique descriptions. In addition, the characters were so uniquely constructed that it was impossible not to both love and despise them. I definitely recommend reading this book. You won’t be dissatisfied!
About The Book
She is a rebel. Lilla is fighting for the refugees’s freedom from oppression. The king, her father, lost touch with reality ever since Lilla’s mother died. Now everyone else is paying the price. The arrival of Callum, a powerful Teryn general, complicates Lilla’s life. His presence leads to conflicted feelings and friction with Arrov, a handsome pilot and fellow rebel.
Her life is not what she imagined it to be. Not by far. Meddling gods, love interests and sudden magical abilities have no room in Lilla’s world, but that has become her new reality. No matter how hard she pushes them away, it’s too late. They all seek to control her anyway. Now the Era War between two ruling archgods forces Lilla to act: accept who she really is magic and all; find true love; fulfill her destiny by defeating the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction before He finds her. The Last Lumenian.
The Review
The Last Lumenian
The Last Lumenian: Sci Fi Fantasy and Action Adventure of the Rebel Princess named Lilla by S.G. Blaise is a very well written story that takes the reader far from Earth to a fantastic new world where magic and myth are crashing together. Lilla is a princess of and a rebel who is fighting to try and free the refugees from the horrible lives they have been dealt. She has also found that she has gained some abilities that are far beyond her understanding, but these abilities have now made her a target for beings far more powerful than her. She will need to rely on her friends and her powers to find a way to complete her mission before the powers that surround her close in for good. The action picks up quickly in this story and does not let up. Fans of space science fiction will enjoy this along with those who enjoy reading epic fantasies. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series.
