The Awakening by Grant Langley
I believe I’ve found the perfect trip if you enjoy a nice, memorable one. Although it was very different from the books I usually choose, I really enjoyed The Awakening by Grant Langley. It’s not often that I give a book in a genre other than my favourite five stars, but here we are!
Grant Langley’s novel The Awakening chronicles Jabuti’s search for his father. He sets out into the bush with two of his closest pals to search for some much-needed solutions. The experience is one they won’t soon forget, though, because of the danger that lies ahead and a few unforeseen failures.
A very pleasant surprise, this book! On a typical day, I wouldn’t pick up a religious adventure novel, but I’m so pleased I did. The Water Crown and This Shall Be A House Of Peace, which are extremely similar in a few aspects, are two independent works I’ve read during the past few months that the book made me think of.
This novel has resonated with me more than I anticipated because Langley is a really gifted author with a natural gift for storytelling. Even if his two buddies can be a pain at times, Jabuti is a really endearing character who endures a great deal to learn the information he so urgently wants, and they both significantly contribute to the creation of a heartwarming tale.
This is a really great novel, and I can’t wait to read the next instalment in the series!
About The Book
Jabuti will stop at nothing to uncover the truth about his childhood. Suffering personal tragedies that would defeat a lesser man, he seeks advice from the wise old shaman. What he discovers on that fateful morning propels him on a dangerous expedition deep into the heart of the rainforest.
With warnings of blood-thirsty cannibals and mysterious white men who roam the forest preaching of their religion, he departs with trepidation. Accompanied by his two close friends they embark upon an epic quest that imperils them at every turn.
In this charged atmosphere two different civilisations will clash most brutally as Jabuti fights to make sense of his past.

Truly remarkable storytelling. As I finished the story I knew that my life will not be the same again. I have fallen for this author's writing and cannot wait to devour the next book. The characters were truly inspirational and the storyline was compelling. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremely well written and has fast become one of my favourites of all time. This book was full of many twists and turns that will keep you guessing what is going to happen until the very end. I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!! I absolutely adored reading this book and will be one clicking the rest of this authors work.
