Moonstruck at Midnight by Alejandra Andrade
The mysterious Billie Murphy and her turbulent existence are featured in the sweet romantic comedy Awestruck at Dawn. Picking from where we left off, Billie is dealing with a significant loss and has become more self-aware of her situation.
She has changed tremendously since the previous book, and I appreciated how she eventually stood up to her father’s oppressive behaviour. The action in Awestruck at Dawn picks up as Billie becomes entangled in a love triangle with Nathan.
Her fiancé at the moment, and William, the man she can’t seem to let go of and who sacrificed himself for her. Hello drama. A split between William and Billie is gradually developing between them as a result of the presence of Nathan’s sister, also known as the new chick on the block, who has firmly established herself between the two.
Williams remains a mystery all the way to the end, and I loved how he made readers love to loathe him. One thing I will say about the author is that Awesome at Dawn was a great illustration of how Alejandra can leave readers completely dumbfounded with her jaw-dropping insights.
The truth, which had been hinted at but never fully addressed since book one, completely astounded me. The neat conclusion of Awestruck at Dawn was the one thing I had a problem with, but given the enormous suspense of the prior book, it was difficult to beat it.
About The Book
It’s her 20th birthday and her final days in Paris after years of living abroad with her father, a top US diplomat, and Billie is feeling all the feelings-saddened to leave her friends and abuzz with anticipation about what comes next. A night of dancing, wine, and a chance encounter with a handsome Princeton athlete, is a near-perfect send-off.
When Billie’s dad gifts her the keys to her own NYC apartment, she embraces the chance for a fresh start in a new city, even if she has to remain under the watchful eyes of her caretaker and bodyguards, including Caleb, who may be more than just a protector and friend.
Within days of her arrival, Billie senses a change in Caleb, who’s suddenly apprehensive about her rekindled relationship with Thomas-the handsome American, her wealthy new friends, and the beguiling (and not to mention gorgeous) Swedish family upstairs. He’s been over-protective of her since the mysterious death of her mother years ago, but lately, he’s been acting like there’s more at stake than ever before.
As Billie steps into an eye-opening world of wealth and secrets-where everyone may not be who they seem-she’ll have to navigate her volatile new relationships and the mysteries of her past to find her path forward.

First of all I’m a straight up sucker for any and every book taking place in any part of Europe. Billie, starts her life journey in Paris and that is what first hooked me. As a diplomat’s daughter (bodyguards and all), she leads a relatively sheltered, very much protected life. When she and her father move to New York her world seems to open up, inviting many new adventures, friends and suitors. That’s where this book really soars! Prepare to fall in love several times over with the enigmatic, charming and lovable men she encounters! There are books that are fun, easy reads and then there are books that are so thoughtful and poignant with words carefully spun, creating art in their wake. This book falls into the latter category and I absolutely adored Alejandra Andrade’s writing! There were so many special aspects to this book…the words, the cultural diversity, the sheer beauty. This is book one in the series and I cannot wait to see Billie’s journey progress!
